Yvonne Chaka Chaka In A Lucky Escape From A Hijacking Shootout

Days after a successful performance in Accra - Ghana, South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka escaped unharmed in Midrand on Tuesday when she was caught up in a shootout between police and hijackers.

Still reeling from the shock, the star tweeted a picture of the scene: “Wow this is what I survived, thank you Lord .”

According to the Midrand Reporter, one alleged hijacker was killed during the movie-like shootout, while another was injured.

Speaking to the paper, Gauteng Provincial SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said: “The men were being chased by police at the time. “ two suspects were shot, one died at the scene and another was wounded and airlifted to the hospital under police guard.”

Grammy Award-winning singer, Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known by his stage name Ne-Yo and gospel duo Mary Mary have been added to the lineup the inaugural Essence Festival Durban in South Africa. 

Organizers Friday announced those additions as well as Wizkid, King Kotini (formerly Riky Rick,) AKA and Ladysmith Black Mambazo for the Nov. 8-13 event being held at the International Convention Center and the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

As the sister event to the annual Essence Festival New Orleans, Essence Festival Durban also will feature local performers including record producer and DJ Black Coffee, actress and singer Nondumiso Tembe, kwaito group Big Nuz, Wololo hitmaker Babes Wodumo, Fuse Academy co-founder DJ Zinhle and Afro-jazz musician Thandiswa Mazwai.

On the event’s final day, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Yolanda Adams will be honored during the All-Star Gospel Tribute.

Jay Z To Sign Sarkodie?

Jay Z’s Roc nation label is in talks to sign Ghana’s Hiplife/Hiphop artiste Sarkodie.

Director of Mobile Strategies at Roc Nation, Briant (Beehigh) Biggs disclosed the label is going country by country and they are in talks with Sarkodie to have him on board.

“We are going country by country. I am already talking to Sarkodie in Ghana to do something with him. I have got something in Gambia, Gabon and Senegal. We have it all spread out. Even in South Africa I am grabbing one artist out there.”

Briant who is tasked with discovering new talents around the world for the label signed a distribution deal with Mavin Record artist Tiwa Savage a month ago and has promised to help build the brand of the Illuminati hit maker using their platform.

After Peter Accused His Brother Of Promoting P-Square Congo Concert Without His Knowledge, Video Pops Up To Prove Otherwise

On Friday Peter Okoye went on social media to say that he wasn’t aware of a PSquare concert set to hold in Congo and he went as far as making threats of taking legal actions against his former manager, Jude Okoye.

A video clip has re-surfaced of both Paul and Peter promoting the concert which was to be sponsored by Airtel. The video was shared exclusively with LIB by the Airtel East Africa team.

While some are using the video to contradict Peter, other argue that the video is from 2013 and could possibly have been for another concert which held at that time as opposed to this new concert in 2016.
